conneXions is the only event of its kind for the fire service, by the fire service. Join us for a 2.5-day focus group event bringing together purchasing decision makers and influencers from fire and EMS departments across North America with businesses through one-on-one appointments, participation in high-level leadership discussions about the challenges facing departments today and lots of informal networking.

Increase Your Community Outreach

IAFC's strategic initiatives encompass community outreach and education. From educating children on fire safety to reminding homeowners to change their smoke alarms and batteries, the IAFC has raised public awareness about emergency preparedness. In 2011, IAFC and Kidde joined forces to create the Smart Choices for Smoke Alarm Placement campaign to better educate the fire service about smoke alarms, how they work and why location matters. This strategic program developed a toolkit that includes fact sheets, supporting studies, talking points, charts and other data supporting smoke alarm location and technology education.

Cause-Related Marketing

For more than 25 years, the IAFC has partnered with Energizer on the highly successful Change Your Clock, Change Your Battery public education campaign to encourage residents to change the batteries and test their smoke alarms when they change their clocks in the fall.

Recently, the IAFC in partnership with VCOS, FLSS, Kidde Fire Safety, NFFF and NFPA launched "Step Up and Stand Out" a national campaign that recognizes current volunteers and encourages citizens to learn how they can assist their local department.

Corporate Grants

Corporate grants support critical IAFC initiatives within the fire service. One example, the Fire Service Executive Development Institute (FSEDI), is a program developed by the IAFC and funded by a grant from Motorola Solutions Foundation to provide new and aspiring chiefs with the tools they need to have a successful and productive tenure.

Chief's Edge

Chief's Edge is a two-day leadership course allowing participants to interact with highly experienced fire chiefs who share their proven techniques for problem-solving, successful leadership tactics and strategies and tools for navigating difficult situations.

On Scene, the official newsletter of the IAFC, delivers essential information, insights and ideas to more than 10,000 IAFC members. On Scene is delivered electronically 21 times per year and supplemented 9 times a year with a print edition.
